ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Bard College women's lacrosse team fell to Rochester Institute of Technology, 18-3, Friday afternoon.
With the loss, the Raptors fell to 3-4 overall and 0-3 in Liberty League play. The Tigers of RIT meanwhile, moved to 6-4 overall and 1-2 in Liberty League play.
RIT started the game off fast, scoring its first goal less than 30 seconds into the match. By the midway point in the first half, the Tigers had jumped out to a 7-0 lead.
Bard was able to get on the board with 12:09 remaining in the opening half, thanks to a free position goal from
Nicole Ellin, which was her 12th of the season.
The Tigers responded to the Raptors' first goal by scoring twice more to push their lead to 9-1.
The Raptors answered by scoring two of the next three goals in the game, on shots from
Dylan McDonald and
Caleigh DeCaprio. The goals were the sixth and 14th of the season for McDonald and DeCaprio respectively.
However, RIT scored twice more before halftime to push its lead to 12-3. The hosts finished the game on an 8-0, as they scored six more times in the second half, while Bard was held scoreless.
The Tigers outshot the Raptors, 31-6 in the game and topped Bard in a successful clears, groundballs, turnovers and draw controls.
Ellin led the way for Bard with four draw controls, two groundballs and the Raptors' opening goal.
Kaylynn Tran tallied eight saves for Bard.
RIT was led by Emily Livecchi (Rochester, NY), who finished the game with four goals and two assists. Sammy Ward (Baldwinsville, NY) recorded seven draw controls and two goals in the win for the Tigers.
