Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Raptors fall at RPI

TROY, N.Y. - The Bard College women's lacrosse team lost to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Friday night, falling by the score of 18-3.

The loss dropped the Raptors to 4-7 overall and 0-6 in Liberty League play. Meanwhile, the Engineers of RPI improved to 5-8 on the season and 3-4 in conference play.

The game opened as a tightly fought contest, as neither side could take control during the first 10 minutes.

RPI opened the scoring just :50 seconds into the match, before Nicole Ellin tied it back up on a free position goal a few minutes later.

However, the Engineers quickly responded, scoring twice in the minute following Ellin's goal to go up, 3-1.

Bard's leading scorer, Caleigh DeCaprio, thanks to her 21st goal of the season, cut the deficit to just one goal nearly ten minutes into the match, but that was as close as Bard would get the rest of the way.

Over the course of the final 50 minutes of the game, RPI outscored the Raptors, 15-1, including a 13-0 run to end the game.

The hosts outshot Bard, 40-12, while also committing less turnovers, winning more draw controls and picking up more groundballs on the day.

Ellin finished the game with two goals, which now gives her 17 for the season, in addition to winning five draw controls for the Raptors.

Kaylynn Tran collected 13 saves in net for Bard, while Melissa Rosenthal tallied three groundballs and Dylan McDonald recorded an assist in the loss.

RPI had eight different players score in the contest, as Allie Claroni (Reading,MA) led the way for RPI with four goals. She also contributed with seven draw control wins and two groundballs.

Up next for Bard, is a road contest at Skidmore College. That game is scheduled for tomorrow (April 22nd) and is set to begin at 2 p.m. You can follow it right here.
