Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Raptors downed by Vassar College

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Bard College women's lacrosse team lost at Vassar College Friday evening, falling to their closest rival, 14-3.

The Raptors dropped to 4-6 overall in 2017 and 0-5 in Liberty League play. The Brewers of Vassar jumped to 6-5 overall and 3-2 in league play.

Vassar opened play by dominating from the get-go, scoring nine goals in the first 17 minutes of play to build up a 9-0 lead.

Bard responded by ending the shutout with 11:35 remaining in the first half, thanks to a free position goal from Nicole Ellin, her 15th of the season.

However, it was the only goal of the opening 30 minutes for Bard, as the team entered halftime trailing 10-1.

While the second half didn't feature a comeback attempt from the Raptors, Dylan McDonald and Caleigh DeCaprio each scored on great individual efforts, giving the girls their 11th and team-leading 20th goals of the season respectively.

Despite the loss, McDonald finished with a solid overall performance, as she scooped up seven groundballs, won three draw controls and scored a goal for Bard.

Raptors' goalie, Kaylynn Tran finished with eight saves for the visitors and Emily Chancey (Hollywood, FL) recorded seven saves in the win for Vassar.

The Brewers had five players finish with two goals in the game, while Lindsay Wolk (Parkland, FL) tallied a goal and two assists for the hosts.

On the evening, the Raptors were outshot by Vassar, 26-18. Groundballs and turnovers were nearly identical between the two teams, but the Brewers dominated draw controls, winning double the amount Bard did.

The Raptors will have the next week off before returning to action, April 21st at RPI. That contest is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. and you can follow it right here.
