Raptors soar past Yeshiva University in straight sets

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College men's volleyball team put on a stellar performance Monday night, easily defeating Yeshiva University in straight sets.

The win moved the Raptors to 5-17 on the season, while the Maccabees of Yeshiva fell to 5-12 overall.

Set scores for the match were 25-20, 25-13 and 25-14.

Besides an opening set that was only close because of Bard errors, the match was fairly one-sided.

The Raptors began the contest slowly, as each side struggled to pull away from the other during the opening set.

Midway through the first frame, down 14-13, Bard finally began to flex its muscle. The hosts outscored Yeshiva, 12-6 the rest of the way to take the first set, 25-20.

From there, the Raptors dominated play.

Bard built double-digit leads in both the second and third sets, as the team breezed to a, 25-13, second set win and a, 25-14, final set victory.

On the night, Bard hit .307 overall, which was good for the team's third best hitting percentage of the season. The Maccabees meanwhile, struggled to find their stroke, as the team finished with a .000 percentage.

Tyler Zowaski led the Raptors with one of the best games in recent memory, thanks to the rare volleyball double-double, as he finished with an impressive 10 aces and 29 assists.

Alex Adams led Bard in kills with 10, while Tristan Kozul added nine kills. Stefan Briggs tallied six kills and six digs in the win.

Michael Klein (New York, NY) finished with the best all-around game for Yeshiva, with four kills, three blocks and seven assists.

Up next for the Raptors, #3 ranked Stevens Institute of Technology on March 29th in Hoboken, New Jersey. The contest is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
