NEW YORK, N.Y. - The City College of New York women's basketball team outscored Bard 13-0 over the final 2:58 of the game to pull out a 62-58 victory over the Raptors in a non-league game on Tuesday night.
Bard (0-21) was down a dozen at halftime, but sophomore
Sarah Morris led a third quarter comeback. She scored 10 points in the third quarter alone as the Raptors cut the deficit to 44-40 entering the final quarter.
Bard began the fourth quarter on a 13-1 run, culminating with a three-pointer from
Caleigh DeCaprio, and Bard led, 53-45, with 5:25 left. The lead was nine with 2:58 to go when the Beavers (10-13) initiated a full court press, and it turned the tide.
Bard turned it over seven times over the final three minutes, as CCNYÂ escaped with a victory.
CCNY got 15 points and four steals from freshman Elizabeth Zullo (Whitestone, NY).
For Bard, Morris had a career-high 19 points, 16 in the second half, to go with eight rebounds and four steals. DeCaprio had a career-high 18 points with four rebounds and four assists, and
Alexis Akingbade had a double-double with 11 points and 19 rebounds.
Up next for Bard is a Liberty League weekend in the North Country. The Raptors will play at Clarkson on Friday night and at St. Lawrence on Saturday afternoon. Follow both games live right here.
