Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

2nd half woes doom Raptors vs. RIT

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - A 10-0 run early in the second half led the Rochester Institute of Technology men's basketball team over Bard College Saturday afternoon, 87-77.

The run began with Bard (2-9, 0-2 Liberty League) leading by a score of 53-47 with 16:38 remaining in the second half. Over the next two minutes, RIT (8-5, 2-2 Liberty League) scored 10 straight to take the lead, 57-53, which was its first lead of the game. From there, the Tigers never relinquished their lead and the Raptors never got closer than four the rest of the way.

To begin the day, Bard took the early lead just :30 seconds into the game. The team built its biggest advantage of the afternoon midway through the first half, 34-21, following a three-pointer from Emmanuel Oyakhilome. In fact, Bard jumped out to blazing start in the first half, shooting 50 percent from the field overall and 44 percent from distance. They led RIT at halftime by the score of 43-37.

But once the second half began, the hosts just couldn't find the same rhythm as earlier in the day. Over the final 20 minutes, the Raptors only connected on 32 percent of their shots and hit just 23 percent from three.

The Tigers were consistent throughout the game, shooting 48 percent overall and 40 percent from three. Where the visitors were really able to take advantage, especially late, was on free throws. They outshot Bard, 25-34, to just 9-15 from the charity stripe.

On the day, the Raptors had four players hit double digits, including David Runcie, who scored a team-high 18 points. Chris Lockwood and Jelani Bell-Isaac each tallied 11 points and Harry Johnson finished with 10 points.

The Tigers were led by A.J. Horde (Oak Park, MI), who recorded 27 points, eight rebounds and eight assists. Robert Aguilera (Webster, NY) added 15 for the visitors.

The Raptors will return to action, January 10th, as they travel down the road to take on Vassar College in Poughkeepsie. Tip-off is 8:00 p.m. and you can follow that game right here via Live Stats and Live Video.
