ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College women's basketball team lost to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, 69-37, in a Liberty League game on Tuesday night.
RPI improved to 7-14 overall, 2-10 in the conference. Bard fell to 0-18, 0-9.
Both teams started slowly, but an 18-5 edge in the second quarter broke it open for RPI. The Engineers limited Bard to nine first-half points; the Raptors had 16 turnovers by halftime.
Bard battled back and cut an 18-point deficit to 13 midway through the third quarter, but RPI finished the stanza with an 14-0 run to extend the lead to 52-25 entering the fourth quarter.
Shaina Iton (Peekskill, NY) led RPI with 13 points, 12 rebounds and four blocked shots. Elizabeth Eckhardt (Albany, NY) added 13 points.
Bard got 10 points and six rebounds from
Annie Kissel.
Alexis Akingbade added seven points and seven rebounds, and
Alexis Gebbia chipped in with seven points off the bench.
