ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Skidmore College women's basketball game finished the first half on an 11-3 run en route to a 62-39 victory over Bard in a Liberty League game on Friday night.
The Thoroughbreds improved to 13-7 overall, 9-2 in conference play; Bard fell to 0-19, 0-11.
It was one of Bard's best performances in a conference game this season. The Raptors outshot Skidmore in the first quarter and led, 12-9, after 10 minutes. Skidmore took the lead back with a red-hot second quarter, but the Raptors battled back and led, 19-18, with 3:25 left until halftime. The Thoroughbreds outscored Bard 11-3 from there to take a 31-22 lead into the break.
Annie Kissel's jumper to start the third quarter cut the deficit to seven, but that's as close as the Raptors would get.
Kelly Donnelly (Wynantskill, NY) led the winners with 16 points and seven rebounds in just 12 minutes. Catie Opfer (Yorktown Heights, NY) added 13 points, six rebounds and three steals.
Bard got a career-high 15 points from freshman
Caleigh DeCaprio, who went 5-for-8 from beyond the arc.
Annie Kissel added 13 points and six rebounds, while
Alexis Akingbade had four points to go with her game-high 11 rebounds.
