NORTHAMPTON, MA -The Bard College women's squash team won its first match ever Sunday morning, beating New York University, 4-3, in the second match of a doubleheader.

In the earlier match, the Raptors fell to the University of Minnesota, 8-1.

Bard (1-8) grabbed three wins over NYU players, as the #2 Francesca Cornali, #5 Renad Bdair and #6 Nadia Russell all swept their opposition in three straight sets.

Bard benefited from NYU only dressing six girls, as that allowed #7, Christa Gammage, to win by default, giving Bard the fourth and deciding victory. 

Cornali continued her stellar weekend, winning Bard's only matchup against Minnesota, in addition to her win against NYU. The junior won both of her matchups yesterday too, as she went a perfect, 4-0, at the Smith College Round Robin.

#3 Olivia Terzian provided a fantastic effort in her tough loss to Minnesota's Meghan Chau. 

Terzian won the first set, 11-9, before dropping the next two sets, 11-3 and 11-7. The Bard sophomore mounted a comeback, winning the fourth set, 11-7, before dropping the fifth and deciding set, 11-6. 

The women will return to action, February 11th, against Connecticut College and Hamilton College in Clinton, New York.
