ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College men's basketball team lost to Liberty League foe, St. Lawrence Friday night, 88-67, at home.
The Raptors (2-11, 0-4 Liberty League) were done in by a slow start to begin the evening, as the Saints of St. Lawrence (11-2, 4-0 Liberty League) jumped out to a 22-8 lead eight minutes into the game.
Bard was able to fight back with a run of its own, cutting the lead to 26-20 on a jumper from
Jelani Bell-Isaac with 5:32 remaining in the first half.
However, St. Lawrence regained its composure and doubled Bard up over the final five minutes of the half, to end the break with a 36-25 lead.
Once the second half began, Bard had no answers for stopping the Saints, as St.Lawrence's hot shooting propelled the team to a double-digit lead for nearly the entire half.
On the night, St. Lawrence shot a fantastic 56 percent from the field overall. During the second half, the visitors shot a scorching hot 63 percent overall, as they sealed their victory.
The Raptors also shot the ball extremely well in the second half, connecting on 57 percent of their shots, but lost the rebounding battle on the night, 39-27, which was a season-high in rebounding differential for the hosts.
Bard finished with two players in double-digits, as
Joel Wincowski scored 14 points and
Chris Lockwood added 11 points.
For St. Lawrence, Willie Zachery (Atlanta, GA) recorded a game-high 22 points and Riley Naclerio (Latham, NY) chipped in 16 points, five rebounds and five assists.
