CANTON, N.Y. - The Bard College men's soccer team drew with SUNY Canton, 2-2, in a non-league game on Saturday afternoon.
All four goals were scored in the first half.
The Roos (0-1-1) took the lead in the 14th minute when Edward Malinoski Jr. (Evans Mills, NY) pounced on a through ball and beat Bard keeper
Taylor Bond from close range. Bard (1-0-1) got even in the 36th minute, when a long free kick from midfield by
David Mamukelashvili found the head of
Antonio Scanni, and his header knotted it at 1-1.
Angelo Vecchio (Baldwinsville, NY) gave Canton the lead with a low, accurate shot from 18 yards out in the 42nd minute. But the Raptors tied it up just before halftime on the first career goal of freshman
Lucas Bourgine.
Bard outshot Canton 7-5 in the second half, but it remained 2-2, and Canton outshot Bard 3-0 in the first overtime, including hitting the crossbar. In the end, Canton outshot Bard 16-13, and Bard had a 3-2 edge in corners. Bond made four saves for Bard; Austin Lamay (Malone, NY) made five saves for Canton.
Bard will next be home on Wednesday for a non-league game against Mount St. Mary College. Follow the action live starting at 5:30 p.m.
