CAZENOVIA, N.Y. - A 21-0 run at the end of the first half powered Cazenovia past Bard Tuesday night, 96-62.
The Raptors traveled west in hopes of securing their first victory of the season, but instead found out they still have work to do over the Thanksgiving break.
Bard (0-3) initially played a back and forth first quarter, which ended with Cazenovia (1-3) on top, 27-20. The Raptors continued the status quo into the early stages of the second quarter, as they trailed 30-24 following a layup from
Annie Kissel. Â
But from that point on, it was all Wildcats.
The hosts went on to score the next 21 points of the quarter before a jumper from
Megan Phelan as time expired finally broke the run. The Wildcats took a 51-26 halftime lead.
The second half brought no reprieve for Bard, as they were outscored over the final 20 minutes, 45-36.Â
The Raptors were outshot, 48% to 35% from the field. The game was ultimately decided from three point range, where the Wildcats did their best Golden State Warriors impression, hitting 13 of 25 attempts. The Raptors for comparison went 2-14 from long range.
On the brighter side, it was a career night for a few Bard players statistically. Phelan scored a career-high, 26 points, which led both teams. Kissel also tallied a career-high in points, with 21 and added five blocks on the night.
Sarah Morris finished with a double-double, as she collected 10 points and 12 rebounds.Â
Cazenovia was led on the night by Skylar Girard (Glens Falls,NY), who scored a team-high 25 points.Â
The Raptors will now have a week off for the holiday break before returning to action, November 30th. They will host the College of New Rochelle at 7 p.m. at the Stevenson Athletic Center on the campus of Bard College. You can follow that game right here via Live Stats and Live Video right here.Â
