SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – A 12-2 run that bridged the third and fourth quarters broke open a close game, and the Bard College women's basketball team lost to Union College, 55-37, in Liberty League action on Sunday.
Bard (5-6, 0-2 Liberty League) led 14-9 after one quarter, but a 13-2 run over the last five minutes of the second quarter gave the Dutchwomen a 28-19 halftime lead.
Both teams were cold to start the third quarter, but the Raptors cut the deficit to 32-27 on a three-pointer by freshman
Sarah Morris with 3:10 to go in the third. Union (7-2, 2-0 LL) responded with a 12-2 run and pushed the lead to as much as 18 in the fourth quarter. The hosts played tough defense, holding Bard to a season-low 21 percent from the field.
Jenni Barra (Loudonville, NY) led Union with 14 points and had three steals in 22 minutes, while Amy Haven (Sutton, MA) had 10 points. Erin Lyons (Pittsford, NY) chipped in with nine rebounds.
Senior forward
Tytravia Riley led the Raptors with 14 points and 12 rebounds, her ninth double-double of the year, while Morris added nine points and grabbed seven boards.
