ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - Calling it a "hot start" would simply not do it justice.
The St. Lawrence University women's basketball team scored 33 points in the first quarter and shot 71 percent from the floor in the first half en route to an 86-66 victory over Bard in a Liberty League game on Friday night.
The Saints made seven of their first eight shots, including 3-for-3 from beyond the arc, and scored 17 points in the first four minutes. It was 33-12 after one quarter, and 55-54 the rest of the way.
Caroline Dalton (Fairport, NY) led St. Lawrence with 21 points, 15 coming in the first half. Cara Waterson (Albany, NY) added 18 points, and Lauren Quattrocchi (Brewster, NY) finished with 16 points, four rebounds and five assists. St. Lawrence is 13-4, 6-2 in the Liberty League.
Bard got a game-high 24 points from
Bianka Bell, and 20 points and 14 rebounds from
Tytravia Riley.
Sarah Morris added 11 points, and
Alexis Akingbade had six points and seven rebounds. Bard is 5-14, 0-10.
