ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Bard College women's soccer team jumped out to an early lead, led 6-0 at the half, and never looked back, as they cruised to a 9-0 win over SUNY Cobleskill in the non-league season opener for both squads on Tuesday night.
Three players had multiple goals for the Raptors, including senior
Abbey Labrecque, who scored the eventual game-winner in the third minute, and scored her second goal a minute later.
Senior
Isabel Keddy-Hector and sophomore
Avalon Qian also had two goals apiece in the contest. Senior
Gina Lewis, junior
Clara Gallagher, and freshman
Aoife Henchy also had a goal apiece while senior
Mady Calhoun and freshman
Katie Hopper each dished out an assist.
Bard scored three goals in a span of five minutes in the second half to make it 9-0 with 22 minutes left in the game.
Kelsey O'Brien got the start in goal for Bard and saved the only shot she faced, earning the victory.
Shane Crowley stopped one shot in the second half.
Bard outshot Cobleskill 32-2. The final score was the largest margin of victory for Bard since an 11-0 win over Bay Path in 2011.
Bard will play two games this weekend in the Rutland Herald Invitational hosted by Castleton University. The Raptors will play the hosts at 3 p.m. on Saturday before taking on either Kean or UMass-Boston on Sunday.
