ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College baseball team lost both ends of a doubleheader at Vassar College on Saturday, 13-3 and 10-4, in Liberty League action.
They'll continue the series at Bard on Sunday with two more.
In the first game, Vassar jumped on Bard starter
Zach Hayes for 11 hits and 11 runs (seven earned) over four innings. Nick Johnson (San Francisco, CA) and Dakota Sagnelli (Rumson, NJ) each drove in a pair of runs, and DH Cory Wuenschell (Pittsburgh, PA) went 4-for-4 with an RBI and four runs scored.
Adam Erkis (Villanova, PA) gave up two earned runs in a seven-inning complete game, striking out five and walking two.
David Schlosser went 3-for-4 and
Alec Montecalvo went 2-for-4 with two RBI for the Raptors.
With Montecalvo on the mound in Game 2, Bard led 3-0 heading to the bottom of the fourth. It was 3-3 when Montecalvo left after the fifth inning, and Vassar scored two in the sixth and five in the seventh to blow it open.
Jason Garfinkel (Encino, CA) went 2-for-3 with three RBI for the Brewers, who are 7-15 overall, 6-14 in the Liberty League. Johnny Mrlik (San Francisco, CA) struck out eight in a complete game victory.
Steve Marotta went 2-for-4, while Montecalvo,
Quinn McInerney and
Adam Carafotes drove in one run apiece for Bard, 5-24, 1-17.
