ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - A three-goal outburst over the course of 35 seconds just past the midway point of the first half broke a 1-1 tie, and the SUNY Canton women's lacrosse team went on to defeat Bard College, 16-1, in a non-league game on Wednesday.
The Roos (10-4) led 10-1 at halftime.
Junior Robyn Carroll (Bowmanville, ONT) led the winners with four goals and two assists, and Tressa Goolden (Canton, NY) added four goals.
The Raptors (2-11) played the game evenly for the first 17 minutes.
Leia Carey scored her first goal of the year off a feed from
Joanna Regan with 15:51 left in the first half to knot the game at 1-1. But by the end of the game, SUNY Canton had a 25-8 edge in shots, a 26-15 edge in ground balls, and the Roos committed 22 turnovers to Bard's 31.
Kaylynn Tran made four saves for Bard. Regan had four draw controls, five ground balls and forced three turnovers. The Raptors have two games remaining in the 2015 season, both in the Liberty League. They'll host Clarkson on Friday at 4, then St. Lawrence on Saturday at 2.
