POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Bard College women's lacrosse team lost to William Smith College, 14-2, in the Liberty League opener for both teams on Friday night.
The Herons (3-4, 1-0) raced out to a 6-0 lead in the first 10 minutes and never looked back. A goal by Bard's
Alexandra Clarke broke the goal streak, but it was 10-1 at halftime.
William Smith got three goals and an assist from Emy Stratton (Winchester, MA) and two goals and three assists from Hannah Connolly (Watertown, NY). The Herons outshot Bard 23-8 and finished with a 26-16 edge in ground balls.
Joanna Regan scored Bard's other goal in the second half. She also assisted on Clarke's goal and finished with three ground balls and five draw controls.
Kaylynn Tran made four saves.
The Raptors get right back at it on Saturday afternoon. They'll host Union College in a Liberty League game at 3:30, to be played at Dietz Stadium in Kingston. Follow it right here via Live Stats.
