Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Raptors challenge Clarkson down stretch, fall 62-56

POTSDAM, N.Y. - Down six at halftime, the Bard College men's basketball team chased Clarkson for the entire second half.

The Raptors nearly caught them.

Down 10 with 4:32 to go, Bard cut the deficit to four, then missed a one-and-one opportunity with a minute left. After another defensive stop, the Raptors missed a three-pointer with 15 seconds left, and the Golden Knights held on, 62-56.

The 10-point lead Clarkson held - 60-50 - was its biggest lead of the game. But Bard couldn't get closer than four late, and Clarkson improved to 17-4 overall, 10-2 in the Liberty League. Bard fell to 9-12, 4-8.

Shooting percentages, free throws and rebounds were amazingly just about even. The only real difference in the game was Bard's 14 turnovers to Clarkson's seven. The Golden Knights scored 15 points off of turnovers, and Bard scored eight.

Clarkson senior John Coleman (Potsdam, NY) led the winners with 29 points. The last two points, free throws in the final seconds, made him Clarkson's all-time leading scorer. He went 13-for-19 from the field. Felix Abongo (Beacon, NY) added 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Bard got 12 points from senior Siondueh Burnette, 10 points from Alex Fabean-Scotch, nine points from freshman DeVahnte Mosley and eight points and eight rebounds from Brandon Cunningham.

Up next for the Raptors is a Liberty League game against Hobart College on Friday night at 8. Follow it live right here.
