ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The men's volleyball teams from Bard and Vassar are members of the powerful United Volleyball Conference, so every year they meet, with a chance to move up in the UVC standings on the line.
On Wednesday night they met, but it was a non-league contest. The UVC Bard-Vassar match will occur on Apr. 1 in Poughkeepsie.
Even though it didn't count in the standings, it did give both teams a good look at each other. Vassar cruised, 3-0, by set scores of 25-6, 25-18 and 25-18.
The Brewers (5-3) hit .301 in the match, including .400 in the first set. A trio of Vassar freshman did most of the damage. Brian Manley (Orchard Park, NY) had eight kills, Matthew Knigge (New Egypt, NJ) had seven kiills, and Zechariah Lee (Santa Clarita, CA) had 32 assists. Sophomore Christian Lizana (Dublin, PA) led the winners with eight digs.

Jesse Small had four kills, freshman
Joseph Stier had 10 assists and five digs, and freshman
Tyler Zowaski had eight digs.
The Raptors will next participate in the Keuka Invitational, starting Friday. They'll play Keuka on Friday, then SUNY-Polytechnic and Regis on Saturday.
