TROY, N.Y. - Aside from Skidmore, everybody in the Liberty League has had some kind of trouble with Bard this winter. The Raptors swept Union and Vassar, beat Hobart on the road, beat Rochester Institute of Technology at home and played tight games with Clarkson and St. Lawrence.

But Rensselaer hasn't had any trouble with Bard at all.

For the second time this season, RPI handcuffed Bard, 61-40. The Engineers (8-17, 5-11 Liberty League) finished below Bard (11-14, 6-10) in the standings but dispatched the visitors with relative ease on Sunday afternoon.

Bard led 4-3 then never again. It was 31-20 at halftime - Bard shot 27 percent from the field in the first half - and after Bard cut it to 10 a few minutes into the second half, RPI went on a 20-6 run to put the game away.

Tyler Gendron (Merrimack, NH) led RPI with 23 points. The Engineers held Bard to 24 percent shooting for the game and blocked 12 shots.

The Raptors got 10 points apiece from Siondueh Burnette and DeVahnte Mosley. Brandon Cunningham added six points and 13 rebounds.

It very well could have been Bard's last game of the season, and the last in the careers of Burnette and Pat Lichtenstein. But Bard did declare its intention to participate in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) postseason tournament. The selection committee will choose the field on Mar. 2. If it was their last game, the Raptors tied the school record for victories in a season with 11. They also won six conference games after winning just three in their first three seasons in the Liberty League.

Postseason conference awards will be announced during the Liberty League playoffs. The semifinals are Wednesday (RIT at Skidmore, Clarkson at Hobart), and the championship game is on Saturday.
