ALBANY, N.Y. - A late 9-0 run turned a lead into a deficit, and the Bard College women's basketball team lost to Sage College, 56-48, in a non-league game on Thursday night.
The Raptors (4-20) had one of their better shooting first halves of the season (.391), jumped out to a 10-point lead, but trailed, 24-23 at halftime. Sage (18-5) fell behind again early in the second half, as Bard got back in front and pushed the lead to seven with 15:02 left.
The lead hovered between seven and one for much of the second half, but Sage took the lead for good with 6:34 to go as part of that 9-0 run.
Bard cut Sage's lead to four twice in the final 85 seconds, but the Gators made enough foul shots to pull the game out. The real difference in the game turned out to be foul shooting. Sage made 13-of-17, and Bard made 8-of-22.
The Gators got 14 points and five blocks from senior Megan Bowman (Dannemora, NY).
Bard got 17 points and 21 rebounds from junior
Tytravia Riley, and 17 points, three rebounds and two assists from
Bianka Bell.
The Raptors wrap up the 2014-15 season with a Liberty League game at RPI on Sunday afternoon at 2. You can follow that game live right here.
