BAYAMON, Puerto Rico - The Bard College men's basketball team lost to Lawrence University, 68-55, in the Puerto Rico Classic on Sunday afternoon.
It was the fourth straight loss for the Raptors, who fell to 3-6. Lawrence is 5-4.
Bard was up 2-0, then not again. The Vikings got up 9-2, 21-9 and 28-13 before Bard trimmed the halftime deficit to 35-26.
Lawrence's lead stayed in double-digits early in the second half, but Bard cut it to eight, 41-33, with just over 13 minutes left in the game. The Vikings responded with an 11-2 run, and Bard didn't get it back to single digits again.
Senior guard Jamie Nikitas (Glenview, IL) led the winners with 26 points.
DeVahnte Mosley led Bard with 19 points, 17 in the second half.
Emmanuel Rainey added 11 points, which all came in the first half.
The Raptors will remain in Puerto Rico for a couple of days and return on Tuesday night. Everyone will go home for the holidays, then return to Annandale for practices in late December. Sixteen Liberty League games remain on the schedule, beginning Jan. 2 at defending league champion Skidmore.
