ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - Some losses are not so hard to take. Some really hurt.

This one hurt.

The Bard College women's basketball team, up 13 midway through the second quarter, saw its leader whittled away gradually, and Cazenovia College rallied for a 59-57 victory in a non-league game on Tuesday night.

Bard (2-3) led 12-10 after one quarter, scored the first 11 points of the second quarter, and led 25-18 at halftime. After three quarters, the Raptors' lead had shrunk to 41-39, and in the fourth quarter, the Wildcats (3-1) took it over for keeps.

Cazenovia shot 15 percent from the field in the first half, and Bard had a 40-23 rebounding advantage at the break. But an adjustment on offense produced a lot more layups, and the visitors outrebounded Bard, 26-21, in the second half to pull out the victory.

The game was tied at 52-52 with 1:44 left, but Bard turned it over twice in those last 104 seconds, while Cazenovia went 6-for-6 from the foul line. A pair of Katie Hopper free throws and a desperation three-pointer by Bianka Bell with two seconds left was all the offense Bard managed down the stretch.

Skylar Girard (Glens Falls, NY) led Cazenovia with 18 points - 15 in the second half - and Kelli Shepardson (Little Falls, NY) added 13 points and 14 rebounds.

Tytravia Riley led Bard with 24 points, 20 rebounds and five steals. Bell finished with 11 points, eight rebounds and three assists. The Raptors got five points apiece from Elena LeFevre, Alexis Akingbade and Annie Kissel. Akingbade added a career-high 19 rebounds, and Kissel blocked five shots.
