Raptors fall short against Dickinson, 60-52, in Ithaca

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Bard College women's basketball team was unable to complete the comeback against Dickinson College, falling 60-52, in the consolation game at the Ithaca College Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
 
After opening the game with a 9-0 lead, Dickinson let the Raptors back into it, as Bard knotted the game at 10 midway through the first quarter. However, the Red Devils closed out the first quarter on a 7-2 run over the final 4:25 for a 17-12 lead. Dickinson continued the dominance heading into the second quarter, outscoring Bard 18-8 for a 35-20 halftime lead.
 
The Raptors came out in the second half on an 8-0 run, beginning with a three-pointer from Elena LeFevre, to cut into Dickinson's lead. Bianka Bell brought Bard within six points, the smallest margin since the opening tip-off, with a basket from beyond the arc to make it 37-31 in favor of the Red Devils.
 
Bard was unable to cut into the lead the remainder of the period, as Dickinson led 45-36, heading into the final stanza. Dickinson never let Bard come within seven points for the remainder of the game, until the final 20 seconds, when the score was 58-52. The Red Devils halted the comeback with two free throws in the final six seconds.
 
Sam Kennedy (Chatham, NJ) led Dickinson (2-2) with 11 points, along with four rebounds and three steals. Kassidy Lesher (Shoemakersville, PA) had 11 boards, two blocks, and two steals.
 
Tytravia Riley continued her strong start for the Raptors with 19 points, four rebounds, and three steals. Bell had 14 points and four boards. Alexis Akingbade finished with six points and a team-high eight rebounds. LeFevre had seven points, while Sarah Morris had five assists to lead the team.
