Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Bombers (12 three-pointers) hand Bard first loss

ITHACA, N.Y. - Now Bard knows why Ithaca's teams are known as the Bombers.

In the first women's basketball meeting between the schools, Ithaca made a dozen three-pointers and cruised to an 89-52 victory in the first round of the IC Invite on Friday afternoon.

Bard (2-1) will play Dickinson College in the consolation game on Saturday at 1. In the championship game, Ithaca (1-2) will take on Coast Guard (2-1), which beat Dickinson on Friday, 66-44.

Friday's game was even early, and Bard led, 12-11, midway through the first quarter. But a 12-0 run over the course of six minutes that bridged the first and second quarter broke the game open. Ithaca led by 15 at half, then scored 29 points in the third quarter to push the deficit to 28.

The Bombers had four players reach double figures, led by sophomore Jordan Beers (Franklin, NY), who had 12 points. Erin Ferguson (Berkeley Heights, NJ) added 10 points and six rebounds. Ithaca shot 52 percent from the field.

Bard senior Tytravia Riley had a huge game - 25 points and 15 rebounds - in just 30 minutes on the floor. Bianka Bell added 17 points, while Alexis Akingbade contributed three points and seven rebounds.
