Raptors blanked at Vassar in 2015 finale

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Bard College men's soccer season ended on Saturday, as Vassar scored four times in the second half and shut out Bard, 5-0, in a Liberty League game.

Bard finishes the season at 7-9-1 overall, 1-7 in the Liberty League. Vassar season ends at 8-6-2, 4-4-0.

The Brewers had the better of play throughout, although both teams had chances to score in the first half. Vassar broke through in the 32nd minute, when a Bard player was called for a foul in the box, and Tom Wiechert (San Clemente, CA) converted the ensuing penalty kick. It remained 1-0 at halftime, with Vassar holding a 14-5 advantage in shots.

The Brewers broke it open with a pair of goals 22 seconds apart in the second half. Tyler Gilmore (Coronado, CA) made it 2-0 in  the 65th minute, and 22 seconds later, Reid Smith (Greensboro, NC) put one home, and it was 3-0.

Alex Gonzales (Aliso Viejo, CA) added a goal in the 73rd minute, and Wiechert added another in the 88th minute.

Bard senior keeper Daniel Gagne made 11 saves in his final game.
