ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON - The Bard College women's volleyball team is up to 10 wins in a season for the first time since 2008 after defeating Old Westbury and Castleton on Saturday in non-league matches.
Against Old Westbury the set scores were 25-16, 25-8, and 25-13.
Bard held the Panthers (4-9) to just 10 kills in the match.
Sofia Koukia led the Raptors with nine kills along with two digs, while
Alexis Akingbade had seven kills.
Victoria Chou had 24 assists, eight digs, and three aces.
Kaylynn Tran had three aces and five digs.
Brittany Buchanan (Brooklyn, NY) and Rayn Brown (Mount Vernon, NY) each had three kills to lead the Panthers, while Chelsey Hoffman (East Meadow, NY) had eight aces and 10 digs.
Castleton defeated Old Westbury in the middle match 25-13, 25-13, and 25-17.
Bard defeated the Spartans (8-7) 25-14, 25-15, and 28-26.Â
Koukia finished with 20 kills, 14 digs, and six aces, while
Kristen Westerduin had seven kills for Bard. Chou finished with 35 assists and eight digs, while
Philippine Alba had five aces and 12 digs.
Kaylee Pratt (Hampton, NY) and Cassidy Tedeschi (Pascoag, RI) led the Spartans with four kills each. Brittany Brayman (Hartford, NY) had 14 digs, while Amanda Chambers had 11 digs. Alex Madsen ( Averill Park, NY) and Michaela Babineau each had nine assists.
