SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - The Skidmore College men's basketball team used a 16-1 first-half run to pull away and cruised to a 63-37 victory over Bard College in a Liberty League game on Friday night.
Skidmore (6-5 overall, 3-0 Liberty League) dominated the boards (46-30), blocked nine shots and limited the Raptors to 16 percent shooting from the field.
Bard trailed 29-16 at the half after managing just four first-half field goals. Skidmore had 14 second-chance points in the first 20 minutes, thanks in large part to eight offensive boards.
The Thoroughbreds were led by senior Connor Merrill (Panton, VT), who had 15 points, nine rebounds and four blocks. He scored his 1,000th career point at the end of the first half.
Bard got seven points apiece from
Harry Johnson and
