Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Cold-shooting Raptors fall at Vassar

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - An 8-0 run to start the second half broke open a close game and the Bard College women's basketball team lost to Vassar College, 60-40, in a Liberty League game on Tuesday night.

The Brewers improved to 1-2 in the Liberty League, 6-6 overall. Bard is 0-1, 4-5.

The first half was a defensive struggle to say the least, with Vassar taking a 20-17 lead into the break. The Brewers shot 19 percent from the field while Bard shot 24 percent.

But Vassar came out hot to start the second half and pushed it's three-point lead to 11 just three minutes in. Bard cut it to eight a few minutes later, but Vassar pushed it up to 20 a couple of times midway through the half and cruised to a victory.

The winners got 10 points apiece from Caitlin Drakeley (Woodbury, CT), Colleen O'Connell (Maywood, NJ) and Zoe Walker (Seattle, WA). Drakeley and Walker added 11 and 10 rebounds, respectively, to build the Brewers' rebounding edge to 61-39.

Bard got a game-high 15 points from Bianka Bell and nine points and nine rebounds from Tytravia Riley.

Up next for the Raptors: at Skidmore on Friday night and at Union on Saturday afternoon as Liberty League play continues. Follow both games via Live Stats or Live Video.
