ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Skidmore College women's basketball team started the game on a 19-4 run and went on to defeat Bard College, 80-49, in a Liberty League game on Saturday afternoon.
Bard hung in there after going down 15 and played Skidmore even over the course of the rest of the first half. But the Thoroughbreds heated up again in the second half, scoring 45 points in the final 20 minutes. Skidmore is 12-6 overall, 8-1 in the Liberty League.
Junior Migle Vilunaite (Vilnius, Lithuania) led the winners with 22 points and 10 rebounds.
Bard (4-14, 0-10) got 18 points, 17 rebounds and three steals from
Tytravia Riley. She enters Monday night's non-league game at Sage needing 13 points to tie Bard's all-time women's basketball scoring mark (1,098 - held by Latiqua Williams). Riley is a junior.
Bianka Bell added 10 points, and
Lexi Akingbade chipped in with six points and eight rebounds.
