CANTON, N.Y. - Bard College's
Tytravia Riley broke the school's all-time women's basketball scoring record in a game at St. Lawrence University on Friday night.
Riley had 20 points, nine rebounds and 11 steals in Bard's 64-44 loss to the Saints. She passed Latiqua Williams ('11) with a layup early in the second half, and has 1,105 career points. Williams had 1,098 career points. The real kicker here is that Riley is a junior with five games left this season and 25 more next season, provided she stays healthy.
First-place St. Lawrence ran out to an early eight-point lead, but Bard pushed back and trailed, 23-19, with 6:36 left in the first half. But the Saints (16-4, 11-1 Liberty League) went 8-for-10 from the field over those last six minutes, and the 21-6 run made is 42-23 at halftime.
Even then, the Raptors (4-15, 0-11) kept after it and cut the 19-point halftime deficit to 12, 49-37, midway through the second half, but a 10-0 run put the game away for the hosts.
St. Lawrence got 13 points and six rebounds from Kara McDuffee (Owego, NY).
Liz Freud added eight points and four rebounds for the Raptors. Up next, they'll visit Clarkson Saturday afternoon at 2. Follow it live right here.
