Big first half leads Clarkson over Bard

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Liberty League men's basketball schedule matched up one of the league's top offenses - Clarkson - against one of the league's top defenses - Bard - on Friday night.

It turned out to be a mismatch.

Clarkson used a 9-0 run early to create some room, then a 15-5 run over the last six minutes of the first half to take a 40-19 halftime lead en route to a 66-50 victory.

The Golden Knights, 12-3 overall and 5-1 in the Liberty League, shot 50 percent from the floor in the first half, grabbed seven offensive boards for eight second-chance points, and scored 13 points off of eight Bard turnovers.

Clarkson managed the game in the second half, pushing the lead to 26 at one point, before Bard trimmed the deficit to 15 in the final few minutes.

Three players scored in double figures for Clarkson, led by Dylan Hodownes (Honeoye Falls, NY) and Felix Abongo (Beacon, NY), who had 13 points apiece, and John Coleman (Potsdam, NY), who had 12.

Alex Fabean-Scotch led Bard with 14 points, and Harry Johnson added 10. Bard is 8-8 overall, 3-4 in the conference.
