WINTER HAVEN, N.Y. - The Bard College baseball team suffered a doubleheader sweep at the hands of Hamilton College on Monday, losing Game 1, 3-2, and Game 2, 10-6.

Bard went 0-5 in Florida and is 3-6.

In the first game, Bard took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Tom Danz singled and later scored on a groundout by Harrison Forman. Hamilton (7-4) tied it in the third, then went ahead 2-1 on a solo homer by Zach Becker (West Hartord, CT), and it stayed that way until the bottom of the sixth.

In the sixth, Jack Hawke singled and eventually went to second on a wild pitch. With two outs, Alec Montecalvo doubled down the left field line to tie it, 2-2.

In the top of the seventh, however, the Continentals took the lead. With two outs and men on first and second, a double steal attempt prompted an errant throw, and Chris Collins (Weston, CT) scored from third for a 3-2 lead.

Gabe Kleiman singled in the bottom of the seventh but the Raptors couldn't push him across.

Hamilton starter Ryan Crawford (Rye, NY) was good, giving up six hits and two runs over 5.2 innings with nine strikeouts and no walks.

Freshman lefty Zach Ward gave up three runs on six hits over 6.1 innings, striking out three and walking two.

Hamilton erased a 1-0 deficit in Game 2 with a six-run second inning, and it was 8-1 through four innings. The Raptors rallied with two in the fifth and three in the sixth. Adam Carafotes had an RBI single in the fifth, and Bard scored three times in the sixth on a bases-loaded walk from Kleiman and a pair of fielder's choice groundouts.

Hamilton tacked on a couple of unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth and won, 10-6. Bard made five errors and Hamilton made four. Tim Burke (Penfield, NY) went 3-for-4 and Kenny Collins (Weston, CT) drove in three runs for the Continentals.

Montecalvo had a hit and two RBI and Kleiman doubled for the Raptors.

Up next on the schedule: Bard's first Liberty League baseball games. There is a doubleheader scheduled for Saturday at noon against Union College at Dutchess Stadium.
