Raptors swept by 13th-ranked NYU

Five of Bard's last six opponents have been ranked in the top 13 in the country.

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The 13th-ranked NYU men's volleyball team hit .493 and dispatched Bard College, 3-0, in a United Volleyball Conference match on Tuesday night.
 
Set scores for the winners were 25-16, 25-16 and 25-12.
 
The Violets (7-4, 3-3 UVC) set the tone for the rest of the match by hitting .652 with 16 kills and one hitting error in the first set. It was 8-8, then 13-9, then 19-13 and the first set went to NYU. Senior Nick Capriccio (Huntington Beach, CA) led the way with six kills (.750) in the first set.
 
Capriccio was errorless again with six kills and hit .500 in the second set.
 
NYU hit .500 as a team in the third set and cruised to close out the victory. Capriccio finished with 14 kills (.636) and no errors. Derrick Chiu (Cupertino, CA) had 35 assists, and Matthew Coghlan (Hilo, HI) had 12 digs.
 
The Raptors got 14 kills (.400) and seven digs from senior Billy Williams, and 23 assists from senior Henry Kasiske. Five of Bard's last six opponents have been ranked in the top 13 in the country.
 
Bard next hosts the Bard Raptors Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
