LYNN, Mass. - The Bard College men's basketball team lost to Fisher College, 71-56, in the first-ever meeting between the schools on Tuesday night.
The game was tight for most of the first half, and it was tied for the sixth and final time at 23-23 with 5:29 to go. But the Falcons put together a 16-7 burst to lead 39-30 at the break, and Bard (4-4) didn't get closer than seven the rest of the way.
Fisher's lead got as big as 21 in the second half as Bard had a poor shooting night (32 percent) and the Falcons scored 20 points off of 21 Bard turnovers.
The winners got 15 points and six rebounds from junior Tyler Shular (Norwalk, CT) and 10 points and six rebounds from junior Jameel Yousif (Chicago, IL). Eleven players scored for Fisher.
Bard got 13 points and four assists from
Alex Fabean-Scotch and 11 points and five rebounds from
Pat Kelly.
Jelani Bell-Isaac led Bard with eight rebounds.
The Raptors have one game remaining in the first semester. They'll host Medgar Evers College on Saturday afternoon at 4. All that will remain after that contest are 16 Liberty League games, beginning Jan. 6 at Vassar.
