ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - Going into Saturday's game, the Bard College men's basketball team knew that two of its "bigs" were missing. Brandon Cunningham and Berk Atuk are injured.

So three things needed to happen for Bard to defeat Clarkson:

(1) Siondueh Burnette, the lone "big" left on the roster, was going to have to have a "big" game;

(2) Bard's smaller lineup was going to have to shoot the ball well throughout;

(3) The Raptors were going to have to defend well and keep Clarkson from getting easy baskets.

Only one of the three happened, and Clarkson cruised to a 76-56 Liberty League victory.

Burnette had a great game. Bard shot the ball OK (45 percent), but allowed Clarkson to shoot 62 percent in the second half, and the outcome wasn't in doubt for a good portion of the second half.

The Golden Knights had a 32-21 halftime lead, but Bard warmed up early in the second half, and eventually cut the 11-point deficit to four a couple of times, the last time with 14:09 to go in the game. But Clarkson's John Coleman (Potsdam, NY) scored eight of the Golden Knights points in a 13-2 run that ensued, and Bard never got closer than 11 the rest of the way.

Coleman finished with 21 points and eight rebounds on 10-of-13 shooting, Marques Charlton (Deer Park, NY) added 18 points, and Felix Abongo (Beacon, NY) contributed 16 points and eight rebounds. The Golden Knights (8-7, 2-4 Liberty League) had a 35-22 rebounding advantage with Cunningham and Atuk out of the lineup.

Burnette responded to the call to action with his third double-double of the season: 16 points, 10 rebounds, two assists and a block. Lamar Powell added 15 points, and freshman Alex Fabean-Scotch chipped in with 11.

The Raptors (5-10, 0-6 Liberty League) will next travel to Skidmore College on Friday night at 8 for a Liberty League contest.
