Volleyball team drops pair on final day of Newbury tourney

Mai Aurell-Foulser led Bard in kills in both of Saturday's matches.
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BROOKLINE, Mass. - The Bard College women's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on the final day of the David Hildebrandt Memorial Tournament, hosted by Newbury College.

The Raptors (1-4) lost to Albertus Magnus, 3-1, and host Newbury, 3-0.

Albertus Magnus (2-4) defeated Bard 25-19, 25-21, 19-21 and 21-14. For Bard, Mai Aurell-Foulser had eight kills; Lexi Cooper had 14 assists, and Daniella Azulai had 19 digs. Also, Tytravia Riley had a solo block and three block assists, while Tiffany Leung contributed 12 digs.

Newbury (4-3)  topped Bard 25-14, 25-18 and 25-19. Aurell-Foulser had seven kills, while Leung and Rebecca Speckenbach added four kills apiece. Cooper had 16 assists and five digs, and Azulai once again led the team with 13 digs.

Azulai was named to the All-Tournament team.

Up next for the Raptors is another non-league road contest, this one at Sage on Wednesday night at 7.
