Women's volleyball team opens season with split

Bard freshman Daniella Azulai had 31 digs over two matches on Saturday.
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Bard College women's volleyball team opened the season with a split, losing to Manhattanville College and defeating Rosemont College in a tri-match at Manhattanville.

In the first match of the day, the Raptors (1-1) lost to Manhattanville, 3-0, by set scores of 25-12, 25-13 and 25-17. Rebecca Speckenbach led Bard with six kills, while Daniella Azulai had 16 digs and Lexi Cooper handed out six assists.

Manhattanville senior Susy Camaj (Lagrangeville, NY) led the winners with 10 kills and a .588 hitting percentage.

Bard later swept Rosemont, 3-0, by set scores of 25-15, 25-19 and 25-22. Bard senior Mai Aurell-Foulser had eight kills and hit .467; Speckenbach added seven kills and eight digs, Cooper had 18 assists, and Azulai had 15 digs. Tiffany Leung added eight digs and Anna Kornfeld contributed six digs.

Up next for Bard is the Newbury College Tournament. It'll start Friday night with a match against Suffolk University, and end with matches against Albertus Magnus and host Newbury on Saturday.
