Raptors shut out in Florida finale

Freshman Ryan Conklin struck out eight and walked one over 8 1/3 innings, but Bard lost to Fontbonne, 7-0.

AUBURNDALE, Fla. - The Bard College baseball team wrapped up a six-game Florida trip with a 7-0 loss to Fontbonne University on Friday morning.

It was the second straight shutout loss for the Raptors, who went 1-6 on the trip and stand at 3-7 as they head North.

Fontbonne junior starter Jacob Becker (Steelville, MO) held Bard to five hits over seven innings and struck out six.

Bard starter Ryan Conklin didn't yield a hit over the first three innings, but the Griffins (4-12) got two in the fourth, two in the sixth and three in the ninth to snap a 10-game losing streak.

Adam Flowers had two of Bard's five singles. The Raptors have lost four in a row.

Bard has some time off before its next game, at Southern Vermont on Apr. 4 at 3:30 p.m.
