Complete results

After Kevin McDonald won at No. 1 doubles, Dashiell Flach and Isaac Lertola prevailed in a tiebreaker to win at No. 3 doubles, giving Bard a 2-1 edge after the three doubles matches. But Mount Saint Mary won the first set in five of the six singles matches, and things didn't look good.

Bard (1-1) rallied.

While Ted Laport was cruising at No. 4 singles for the Raptors, Dashiell Flach and Kevin McDonald came back to win the second set at No. 6 and No. 2 singles, respectively. By the time both of those matches were in the third set, everyone else was done and Mount Saint Mary had a 4-3 lead. Bard had to win the final two matches to defeat the Knights.

Flach went up 5-1 in the third set but eventually lost to Connor Bean, 7-5, 3-6, 7-6 (11-9). A few minutes later, McDonald completed his comeback and beat Nate Dimmie 2-6, 7-6 (9-7), 6-4, but Mount Saint Mary prevailed, 5-4.

McDonald will travel to Ithaca College this weekend to compete in the Northeast USTA/ITA Small College Regionals. As a team, Bard is scheduled to play Union College on Tuesday at 4 in Schenectady.
