Women's volleyball team swept by Vassar in Liberty League opener

Mai Aurell-Foulser had seven digs in Bard's 3-0 loss to Vassar on Tuesday night.
Box Score POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Bard College women's volleyball team opened the Liberty League portion of its 2012 schedule with a 3-0 loss at Vassar on Tuesday night.

Set scores for the Brewers were 25-8, 25-8 and 25-11.

The Raptors, 3-6 overall and 0-1 in the Liberty League, got off to a rough start, as Vassar turned a 9-4 lead into a 16-4 lead en route to a 25-8 first set victory.

After hitting .222 in the first set, Vassar (5-2, 1-0) hit .588 in the second set and breezed to a 25-8 win. The third set was similar as Vassar won, 25-11. Three different Vassar players had five kills apiece, and senior Hilary Koenigs (Spokane, WA) had four aces, 13 digs and four digs.

Bard got two kills and seven digs from Mai Aurell-Foulser and six assists from Lexi Cooper.

Both teams will travel to Rochester this coming weekend for Liberty League play at RIT. Vassar will play St. Lawrence and RIT on Friday, then Clarkson on Saturday. Bard will play St. Lawrence on Friday, then Clarkson and RIT on Saturday.
