Women's volleyball team splits on last day of season

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ANNANADALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College women's volleyball team wrapped up the 2012 season with a split on Saturday.

The Raptors lost to Rutgers-Newark, 3-0, then won a thriller over Old Westbury, 3-1.

Rutgers-Newark topped Bard 25-13, 25-21 and 25-13. Freshman Tytravia Riley led Bard with eight kills, Cara Chalk added seven kills, Lexi Cooper had 20 assists and Amy Kassowitz had 10 digs. Rutgers-Newark went on to defeat Old Westbury, 3-0, and is 15-12 on the season.

Bard fought off Old Westbury, 25-21, 19-25, 29-27 and 30-28. Chalk had 13 kills, Cooper had 38 assists and Kassowitz contributed 15 digs. The Raptors finish the season at 7-21.

Saturday marked the final matches in the collegiate careers of Cara Chalk, Fiona Do Thi, Ruth Lakew and Amaya Chenu. They were honored before the final match of the day.
