Bard swept in Liberty League debut

Fiona Do Thi led Bard in assists in both matches on Friday, but Bard was swept in both.
ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College women's volleyball team was swept in a pair of matches Friday night, the team's debut in the Liberty League.

Undefeated Clarkson University was first, and the Golden Knights swept Bard, 3-0, by scores of 25-12, 25-7 and 25-16.

In that match, Amaya Chenu had six kills, Fiona Do Thi led the team with six assists, and Julia Denning contributed 11 digs. Clarkson is 15-0.

Next up was defending league champion St. Lawrence University, and the Saints swept Bard, 3-0, by scores of 25-20, 25-12 and 25-13.

Chenu, Do Thi and Denning led the way again; Chenu had seven kills, Do Thi had 19 assists and Denning had 13 digs.

The matches were part of a Liberty League weekend being hosted at Bard and Vassar. Also at Bard on Friday, St. Lawrence edged RIT, 3-2, and Vassar topped RIT, 3-1.

On Saturday at Vassar, there will be two matches at 11 a.m., and two at 1:30 p.m.: The morning matches will see St. Lawrence vs. Vassar and Clarkson vs. RIT; in the afternoon, it'll be Clarkson vs. Vassar and Bard vs. RIT.
