ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College men's tennis team got its first taste of the caliber of Liberty League play on Friday.
Powerful Vassar swept Bard, 9-0, without losing a set.
Leading the way was reigning Liberty League Player of the Year Andrew Guzick (Rochester, N.Y.), a junior who finished last season ranked No. 8 in the country in singles in Division III. He topped Bard freshman
Kevin McDonald, 6-1, 6-1, and teamed with his brother, Ben, to win at No. 1 singles, 8-1, over McDonald and fellow freshman
Brian Bollman.
Vassar (1-0) swept all three doubles matches, 8-1.
In singles, another Bard freshman, Alex Khondji, performed well but lost at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 7-5, to Vassar junior Dan Freeman (Big Flats, NY).
The Raptors (0-1) next play on Sept. 25 at home against City College of New York.
