ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College men's tennis team got a taste of the Liberty League on Thursday night ... and it gave everybody indigestion.
Bard is playing in its final season in the Skyline Conference before joining the Liberty League next season. On Thursday, the Raptors hosted Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and the Engineers dominated, rolling to a 9-0 victory.
Consider this as well: RPI isn't one of the top teams in the Liberty League. The Engineers made the Liberty League playoffs last season as the No. 6 seed and were eliminated in the first round.
Bard, 1-2 overall, lost all three doubles matches by 8-1 scores, and lost five of the six singles matches in straight sets.
Junior
Joel Richmond (New Hartford, N.Y.) did take a set at No. 3 singles for Bard, forcing a tiebreaker. RPI's James Kim eventually defeated Richmond, 6-0, 4-6 (10-6).
Bard next hosts Brooklyn College in another non-conference match on Saturday at 1.
