Men's tennis team drops opener at Farmingdale State

Junior Joel Richmond took a game at No. 2 singles, but Farmingdale State swept Bard on Saturday.
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. - The Bard College men's tennis team lost its opener on Saturday, 9-0, at Farmingdale State in a Skyline Conference match.

The Raptors, 0-1, did not take a set as the powerful Rams won at love in three of the singles matches and one of the doubles matches.

Bard junior Joel Richmond (New Hartford, N.Y.) took a game from Joe Passarella at No. 2 singles - Passarella was an All-Skyline First Team selection last year. Bard sophomore Greg Gainey (Allentpown, Pa.) took three games at No. 3 singles.

Bard next plays on Saturday in another road contest, this one at Polytechnic Institute of NYU on Saturday at 1.
