ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - Any notions the Bard College men's basketball team had about maybe riding a wave of emotion to a big upset on Saturday were quickly put to rest.

SUNY Old Westbury, still battling for a Skyline Conference playoff spot, jumped out to a big lead in the first half and never looked back in an 87-66 romp that spoiled Senior Day.

The Panthers shot an amazing 56 percent from the field in the first half, dominated on the boards, and never allowed Bard to make a sustained run to cut into the deficit.

The Raptors were down 10 after five minutes and down 19 at halftime. Old Westbury never let the lead shrink to less than 15 in the second half, as it improved to 12-13 overall, 11-9 in the Skyline Conference.

Freshman Matthew Duffy (Smithtown, N.Y.) was killing Bard from the outside, making 5-of-8 three-pointers in the first half and finishing with 25 points. On the inside, 6-foot-6 senior Frantz Granjean was a terror, collecting 23 points and 17 rebounds. If that wasn't enough, 6-foot-10 senior Lester Prosper added 20 points and 14 rebounds, as Bard was outrebounded on the game, 48-25.

Bard junior Matt Shubert (West Chester, Pa.)  had 22 points, and senior Christian Marghella (Closter, N.J.), playing is his final home game, had 11 points and six rebounds. Freshman Lamar Powell (West Orange, N.J.) chipped in with eight points and four rebounds.

Bard (2-22 overall, 2-17 Skyline) will finish the 2010-11 season on Monday night at Yeshiva at 8 p.m.
