ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - In a match between two teams desperate for a victory, SUNY Cobleskill came out on top.
Bard's losing streak reached 11 matches and SUNY Cobleskill's losing streak ended at 4 as the FIghting Tigers prevailed in women's volleyball on Tuesday night, 3-1, by scores of 25-17, 21-25, 25-19 and 25-15.
Bard, 3-15 overall, led the first set, 10-4, before the Fighting Tigers fought back and took it 25-17. The Raptors took a 9-5 lead in the second set and never trailed again, winning it 25-21.
In the pivotal third set, Bard led 17-14, but lost nine of the next 10 points as once again the Fighting Tigers rallied and prevailed, 25-19.
Bard fell behind early in the fourth set and never threatened, as the Fighting Tigers improved to 5-15. Kady Porterfield (Macdoel, CA) led the winners with 16 kills.
Bard was led by sophomore
Mai Aurell-Foulser, who had 17 kills, junior
Cara Chalk, who had 14 kills, and freshman
Lexi Cooper, who finished with a match-high 33 assists. Junior
Julia Denning had 12 digs, and junior
Fiona Do Thi added nine digs.
Up next for the Raptors is a doubleheader on Saturday. They'll host Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts and City College of New York. Bard will play MCLA at noon, MCLA and CCNY will play each other at 2, and Bard will play CCNY at 4.
