ANNADALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - Junior striker
Jacob Hartog (San Francisco, CA) took a through ball from sophomore
Ammar Al-Rubaiay (Chester Springs, PA) and chipped it past Farmingdale State goalkeeper Ray Levan with just four minutes remaining in the second overtime on Saturday, lifting the Bard College men's soccer team to a thrilling 1-0 victory.
It was the Skyline Conference opener for both teams. In a defensive struggle, Farmingdale State held an edge in corners (8-2) and shots on goal (4-3), but Bard, 1-0 in the conference and 3-4 overall, got the big play when it mattered most.
The Raptors have a week off before going to Albany to take on The Sage Colleges, a first-year program, on Sept. 25. Sage stunned defending conference champion St. Joseph's on Saturday, 4-1, in its first league contest.
